Oilfield services provider Wood has been awarded the brownfield engineering services contract for the Inpex-operated Ichthys offshore facilities and onshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) processing facilities in Darwin, Northern Territory.
The Inpex-operated Ichthys offshore facilities are located 220 kilometers off the coast of Western Australia.
Effective immediately, the contract is for five years with a two-year extension option and will be executed from Wood’s offices in Perth, Australia, Wood said on Tuesday.
It includes the delivery of engineering services to support the execution of brownfield works as well as technical support services.
It follows the win of a five-year contract in September 2016 to provide subsea engineering services to support Ichthys LNG.
Robin Watson, Wood’s chief executive said: “We are proud to be offering our diverse capabilities from subsea and topsides to brownfield engineering on this complex project, which has an operational life of at least 40 years.
“Our commitment is to leverage our global brownfield engineering expertise to ensure we deliver innovatively, efficiently and safely.”
The Ichthys field offshore facilities include the FPSO Ichthys Venturer and the CPF Ichthys Explorer. Both units were moored at the field last year.
The Ichthys Venturer is moored 3.5 kilometers away from its sister offshore facility, Ichthys Explorer.
The CPF is the central hub for initial offshore processing of all well fluids delivered from an extensive, 130-kilometer network of subsea well infrastructure.
The FPSO has been designed to process and store most of the condensate delivered from the Ichthys LNG Project’s central processing facility, Ichthys Explorer, before periodically offloading it to carriers for export to market.
Gas from the CPF will be sent through an 890-kilometer subsea pipeline to the onshore LNG facility, at Bladin Point, near Darwin for processing.
Condensate arriving to the CPF will be transferred to the FPSO Ichthys Venturer.
