Russian Economy Minister is under arrest for Bashneft-Rosneft transaction

Alexey Ulyukayev is reportedly under the investigation for having received $2 million that led to a positive conclusion, allowing Rosneft oil company to buy Bashneft, the Russian Investigative Committee said early Tuesday in a statement, the Russian news site SputnikNews stated today. According to the Investigative Committee, Ulyukayev was arrested at the moment of receiving a bribe.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has commented on the situation, saying that the accusations against the economy minister are very serious. There were no comments coming from the Ministry of Economic Development.
Russia’s Federal Security Service has been monitoring Alexey Ulyukayev for more than a year, a source in the agency said Tuesday.
