Evonik is investing in a new PMMA facility in Germany

Evonik has approved construction on a new production plant for high-quality flat films made from multi-layer polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), the company said in a press release. To finance the project, the company declared to invest “a sum in the double-digit million”s in its Weiterstadt site. The plant is scheduled to supply the initial commercial film batches by the end of 2018.
Apart from the required personnel and supplies needed for building the facility, Evonik promised the creation of “a number of new jobs”.
Multi-layered PMMA films are used in medical technology, window and façade construction, and in the graphics industry, while the new plant is believed to expand the film composition offer that Evonik will be able to supply to its customers.
