The Fairchild PAX1 actuator

Rotork announced the release of a new product belonging to the Fairchild range: the Fairchild PAX1 low power explosionproof electric linear actuator, designed to provide precise positional control for a wide range of applications including pump stroke control, dampers and test equipment, according to Valve World.
Operating from an 11-26 VDC power supply, the compact PAX1 actuator delivers a maximum linear thrust of 2,890 N (650 lbf) over a 25 mm stroke at adjustable speeds of up to 60 mm/minute. Accuracy is quoted as +/- 1% of full stroke. The low power consumption, which reduces to less than 1W in standby mode, is ideally suited to solar and battery energy sources.
The actuator incorporates isolated 4-20 mA and non-isolated 1-5 VDC analogue inputs to provide proportional linear positional control, whilst a 4-20 mA feedback position transmitter is optionally available. In both analogue input control modes the actuator will lock in place on loss of signal or power supply.
Two Single Pole Double Throw high and low alarm relays provide alarm functions when the output thrust rod reaches critical positions. Local pushbuttons are fitted under the actuator’s aluminium cover to facilitate commissioning and enable local control. A female hexagon motor drive interface also allows manual actuator operation.
The IP68/NEMA 4X watertight enclosure, combined with FM Explosionproof Certification and an ambient temperature range of -40ºC to +80ºC, optimises potential operating environments whilst the NAMUR standard mounting interface maximises suitability for use in industrial applications.
