KLINGER Argentina’s Water and Sewage division has completed the supply, installation and calibration of an automated valve network at the Laguna Blanca water treatment plant in northeastern Argentina. The plant has tripled its production capacity to 794 m³/h and now covers about 95% of local demand.
The project was carried out for the construction company in charge of the plant. It covers the main process stages: 40 wafer butterfly valves on the backwash lines, the filtration chamber and the distribution centre, 4 flanged butterfly valves on the equalisation tank, and 18 flanged diaphragm valves.
The imported valves arrived in late 2025, and work on site began in early 2026. To meet urgent provincial needs, actuation was done in two phases: pneumatic actuators were installed in February and electric actuators in June. KLINGER worked with a local manufacturer to design custom extensions connecting the valves to the actuators.
The automation work was led by Nicolás Córdoba and Braian Ruiz of KLINGER Argentina’s Automation and Services Center. Emanuel Brizuela, Sales Executive for the Water and Sewage division, managed the project. The company describes it as one of its most complex automation projects to date and reports that all 58 actuators performed as specified.
Laguna Blanca has a growing population of about 28,000. It sits in a wetland region near Río Pilcomayo National Park. The upgraded plant is designed for a 30-year service life and is expected to supply more than 44,000 people in the town and surrounding areas.
