Evonik opened a new facility at its Tuzla (Istanbul) site in Turkey on January 31st, the company declared in a press release dated yesterday.
The application technology laboratory features top-of-the-line equipment for processing requests for a wide range of coatings and printing ink applications. This allows the lab staff to formulate, apply, and test a variety of coatings and printing inks in water-based, solvent-based, or radiation-curing formats. The modern laboratory equipment also includes a spray booth and a climatic chamber.
The Tuzla site manages the Turkish and adjacent markets, and this is its most recent expansion.
Evonik footprint in Turkey, through the Evonik Ticaret Ltd. company, dates back to thirty years ago, and consists of monomers, amino acids, cyanides, silicas and superabsorbents productions, The Group also holds 51% of shares in Egesil Kimya Sanayi & Ticaret, a joint venture based in Adapazari (near Istanbul) for the production of silica.
This move follows the recent acquisition of the Performance Materials division from Air Products, focussed in growing Evonik’s presence in coatings market.
