The plant will use reverse osmosis membrane technology to supply potable water to more than one million residents in the cities of Mecca, Jeddah and Taif, and will be installed in the Shuaiba area, on the Western coast of Saudi Arabia.
In a joint-venture, in which it holds 50%, Fisia Italimpianti has signed a Limited Notice To Proceed with ACWA Power to start the preparatory work, and the signing of a Full Notice To Proceed is expected to be done by July 27, 2017 and to hand over the plant by May 2019.
Fisia Italimpianti, part of the Salini Impregilo group, now has more than four million cubic metres per day of installed capacity, in both thermal and reverse osmosis.
