European Union will help funding €164mln for wastewater treatment project in Egypt

The European Union (EU) will contribute €32mln towards the €164mln Kafr El Sheikh Wastewater Expansion Programme in Egypt, according to WWI.
The project supports the construction of new wastewater treatment plants and full wastewater collection networks covering 500,000 inhabitants in the Kafr El Sheikh Governorate.
The local partner for the project will be the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater (HCWW), with the Kafr El Sheikh Water Supply and Sanitation Company (KSWSSC) as a direct beneficiary. At the end of last month Egypt’s Ministry of Finance increased available funding to help the country recover from a storm water crisis (read article).
The remaining funding for the Kafr El Sheikh project will be covered by the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
