International industrial services provider Bilfinger continues to deliver measurable progress on sustainability. The renowned rating provider EcoVadis has once again awarded the company its gold medal for sustainable, ethical and responsible business practices, with an overall score of 83 out of 100 points. This further improves Bilfinger’s sustainability rating and places the company among the top 1 percent of rated companies in its industry and the top 2 percent of more than 150,000 companies evaluated worldwide.
“Gold for the fourth time in a row – we are proud of that. It is the result of our consistent focus on sustainability across all areas of our business. Our customers can rely on it: With Bilfinger, they have a strong partner for their sustainability goals at their side,” says Thomas Schulz, Bilfinger Group CEO.
The rating recognizes Bilfinger’s performance across all sustainability dimensions. Key achievements include the validation of the company’s climate targets by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) in 2025, confirming Bilfinger’s commitment to reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Notably, Bilfinger also made significant progress in Sustainable Procurement, reflecting the successful integration of sustainability standards throughout its supply chain.
EcoVadis bases its comprehensive assessment on the detailed collection, analysis and validation of sustainability data across four key categories: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. The evaluation adheres to internationally recognized standards including the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the UN Global Compact and the ISO 26000 standard. In the current assessment, Bilfinger achieved strong scores across all categories, with 86 out of 100 in Environment, 79 out of 100 in Labor & Human Rights, 89 out of 100 in Ethics, and 86 out of 100 in Sustainable Procurement.
Sustainability is a cornerstone of Bilfinger’s corporate strategy and is firmly embedded in the company’s Code of Conduct. With its vision to be No. 1 for customers in enhancing efficiency and sustainability, Bilfinger positions itself as the solution partner of choice to the process industry. This is reflected in the numbers: Greenhouse gas emissions decreased by 8 percent (Scope 1 & 2, market-based) and 4 percent (Scope 3) in 2025. At the same time, the lost time injury frequency rate (LTIFR) improved significantly from 0.32 to 0.18. Since 2011, the company has reported annually on its sustainability activities and publishes a progress report each year as part of its UN Global Compact membership.
