ROSS Controls has announced the launch of its H L-O-X Series Hydraulic Lockout Valve, designed to improve safety in machine guarding and maintenance operations involving hydraulic systems. The newly introduced valve is engineered to isolate hydraulic energy by blocking the flow of fluid and safely releasing downstream pressure. This function is critical during maintenance activities, where complete energy isolation is required to prevent unintended machine movement. The H L-O-X Series enables both pump flow isolation and pressure release through dedicated exhaust lines, ensuring a controlled and secure shutdown process.
The valve is manually operated and features a handle that can be locked using a padlock or hasp, preventing accidental or unauthorized reactivation of the system. Its tamper-resistant design further enhances safety by making it difficult to bypass the lockout mechanism.
Designed for demanding industrial environments, the valve supports pressure ratings up to 6,000 psi (414 bar). It is available in three port sizes—½ inch, ¾ inch and 1¼ inch—offering flow capacities of 20, 35 and 50 gallons per minute respectively. The construction includes carbon steel components along with durable sealing materials such as Delrin and nitrile rubber to ensure reliability and long service life.
An integrated pressure measurement feature allows operators to verify that downstream pressure has been fully released before beginning maintenance work. This added layer of confirmation supports compliance with safety protocols and reduces operational risks.
The H L-O-X Series expands ROSS Controls’ hydraulic safety portfolio, which also includes block and bleed valve systems and block and stop valve systems. These products are designed to help manufacturers implement robust safety measures across a wide range of machinery and automation setups.
