International industrial services provider Bilfinger has joined the select group of companies worldwide to fulfil the strict requirements of ISO 19443, an international standard designed to enhance safety and control quality throughout the nuclear supply chain. The certification applies to the Business Line Nuclear within Bilfinger.
At the end of last year, Bilfinger Nuclear sites in Germany, France and the United Kingdom were thoroughly audited by TÜV NORD CERT, an accredited certification body, to demonstrate the successful implementation of Nuclear Safety Culture (NSC) in the Quality Management System. The extensive audit spanned 7 sites across 3 countries, involving 5 auditors over 32 audit days in 6 weeks, conducted in 3 languages.
Auditors highlighted Bilfinger’s strong Nuclear Safety Culture across all sites, supported by a dedicated regional organisation including local NSC pilots to guarantee commitment at all levels. “We have been impressed by the overall awareness and integrity of the Nuclear Safety Culture. The involvement and support of the leadership team regarding the implementation of ISO 19443 was exceptional,” says Dr Eileen Langegger, Lead Auditor at TÜV NORD CERT.
“As a major player in the nuclear market, we believed it was essential to obtain ISO 19443 certification as recognition of the robustness of our practices and our Nuclear Safety Culture,” explains Caroline Sagne, President Business Line Nuclear. “This is a major step forward in our commitment to excellence, underlining our dedication to constantly improving our processes and meeting international standards. I want to thank the teams who worked so hard over the past two years to make this a success.”
