John Crane achieves B-BBEE Level One status in South Africa

John Crane has achieved Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) Level One contributor status in South Africa following a strategic partnership with the Bunengi Group.
The certification, the highest level of recognition under South Africa’s B-BBEE framework, strengthens the company’s position as a supplier to customers in the mining, energy, power generation, petrochemical and other industrial sectors. B-BBEE accreditation is an increasingly important requirement for organisations bidding for major public and private-sector contracts.
According to John Crane, the certification supports its long-term localisation strategy and investment in South Africa while enabling customers to benefit from 135% procurement recognition, helping improve their own B-BBEE scorecards.
“Achieving B-BBEE Level One status is an important strategic milestone for John Crane South Africa and reflects our long-term commitment to the country, our customers and the communities we serve,” said Amjad Alqaqaa, Vice President, MEAI at John Crane.
“South Africa remains a strategically important market for John Crane, particularly across mining, energy and process industries where customers rely on trusted local partners to support critical operations. This achievement strengthens our ability to support those customers while continuing to invest in local capability, skills development and sustainable growth.”
John Crane South Africa said the certification reflects its ongoing investment in skills development, education and enterprise support. The company has supported more than 100 students through bursary and learnership programmes, while its participation in the YES for Youth initiative has provided workplace experience for around 86 young South Africans since 2018.
The company also works with local businesses through enterprise and supplier development programmes, providing technical training, equipment support and partnership opportunities, and continues to support community projects through the Soul Provider Trust.
