Trillium Flow Technologies replaces an obsolete valve to a nuclear client

Trillium Flow Technologies’ Elland facility recently supplied Batley Steadseal double offset butterfly valves to a nuclear client for their main cooling water circuit. This order follows previous successful installations of similar valves for the same application. The featured valve is a 1950 mm (76”) model, replacing an obsolete valve with custom face-to-face dimensions and flange drilling to an outdated standard. This required bespoke patterns and test plates. The valve was supplied with a bare shaft and a mounting adaptor designed to fit the existing on-site actuator. The actuator was assessed for suitability and underwent a weak link analysis

In recent years, Trillium has supported several clients in replacing large-diameter butterfly valves designed to replace obsolete models that have reached the end of their economic lifespan, with spare parts no longer available. When original drawings are unavailable, Trillium team conducts site surveys to capture critical dimensions, ensuring “like-for-like” replacements, including custom dimensions and essential design features.
