A US$2.2 million contract has been awarded to a consortium to carry out feasibility studies of four hydropower projects with a total capacity of 1.25 GW in Argentina.
According to BNamericas, consortium Intertechne-Hissa-HCA-Grimaux will have 16 months to carry out studies for the projects.According to a document called Hydropower Potential of Neuquen Province, released by Emprendimientos Hidroelectricos Socieded del Estado Provincial del Neuquen (Emhidro SEP), the province has total installed hydroelectric capacity of 4,518 MW from six facilities.
The undated document lists potential capacity of 31 additional projects at 5,425 MW. This includes Cerro Rayoso at 472 MW, Huitrin at 210 MW, La Invernada at 322 MW and Pini Mahuida at 457 MW. This total of 1.461 GW differs from the 1.25 GW listed above.
