TechnipFMC has been awarded a contract by ENI Ghana E&P Limited (a subsidiary of ENI, Ghana National Petroleum Company and Vitol), for the onshore part of the Offshore Cape Three Points development of the Sankofa field, offshore Ghana, according to a press release by the company.
Under this contract, TechnipFMC will perform the project management, engineering, supply, construction and commissioning for the Onshore Receiving Facilities located in Sanzule, which form part of the Gas to Power Plan.
The contract will be mainly executed by the teams of TechnipFMC in Ghana. The project is scheduled for completion by mid-2018.
The Sankofa Gas Project, according to the World Bank, will fuel up to 1,000MW of domestic power generation, or about 40% of Ghana’s currently installed generation capacity. Once the project is operational, Ghana will be able to reduce its oil imports by 12 million barrels per year and reduce CO2 emissions by around 8 million tons over five years. Total investment in the development of the OCTP are estimated to be $7.9 billion over the life of the project. This represents the largest foreign direct investment in Ghana’s history.
