Emerson and Shell signed two automation, maintenance contracts

It has been quite a successful end of month for Emerson, after signing a maintenance contract with Shell Australia and an automation one with Shell Philippines.
On one hand, Emerson and its local business partner, Western Process Controls, will provide equipment monitoring, diagnostic services, spares support, and maintenance for the facility’s control and safety systems, as well as thousands of instruments and valves.
Since 2010, Emerson has served as Main Automation Contractor on the Prelude project, responsible for process control and monitoring technologies that will help Shell operate Prelude FLNG. Under the new multi year support contract, Emerson experts working both onshore and offshore will provide ongoing reliability and maintenance services for an even broader range of equipment. Two engineers from Emerson onboard Prelude will work with other team members who remotely monitor the facility’s automation from Shell’s operations center in Perth.
On the other hand, the company recently upgraded automation technology to improve the reliability of the Malampaya operation, which is part of a general upgrade of the control systems, networks, and valve equipment on its offshore production platform. Emerson has provided automation technologies and services for the Malampaya operation since its inception more than 15 years ago.
