Ansaldo Energia merges with Ansaldo Nucleare, which becomes a business unit

Ansaldo Nucleare is to transition from a subsidiary to a business unit of Ansaldo Energia. The respective boards of directors have approved the proposed merger by incorporation which, as announced, is expected to “further strengthen the role of nuclear power in the group’s growth strategy and accelerate its development by leveraging Ansaldo Energia’s industrial scale and investment capacity, in light of the growing importance this technology is assuming in the Italian and international energy landscape”.
The operation will need to obtain the necessary authorisations and will be presented to the trade unions.
Ansaldo Energia identifies nuclear power as “one of the main areas of development for the coming decades”, the company states, adding that the merger aims to “strengthen and enhance the activities carried out by Ansaldo Nucleare and will combine over sixty years of specialist expertise in the nuclear sector – the company’s core asset – with Ansaldo Energia’s industrial scale, financial strength and operational capabilities”. The objectives also include “simplifying management, speeding up the implementation of strategies and further rationalising costs”.
Daniela Gentile, Managing Director of Ansaldo Nucleare, is to become Executive Vice President for Nuclear at Ansaldo Energia, heading up the business unit and leading strategic development initiatives in the sector.
