Bolivian government is aiming to build two new hydropower plants

Bolivian president Evo Moralez has given the green light for the final design studies of two hydropower plants, in La Paz department: the 3,251-MW El Chepete and the 425-MW (whose previously-announced power was 1,600MW) El Bala stations.
The Italian environmental engineering company Geodata will sign the pre-investment work, for a $15-million-worth contract that will make the 15-month work begin.
The total investment is of $6 millions, and it will take six years to complete the two facilities.
Recently, the Bolivian government announced it was moving forward with development of the 254-MW Ivirizu hydropower plant.
