Emerson opens new facility and first industrial solutions center in Korea

Emerson yesterday officially opened a new, USD 25 million facility in Jukjeon to serve its Emerson Automation Solutions customers in the region. In addition to advanced system staging, training and servicing capabilities, the new facility will feature Emerson’s first fully equipped solutions center in Korea.
“Emerson has been investing in Korea for more than three decades and in that time, we have witnessed significant growth in refining, chemical, marine, power, oil and gas, commercial and residential segments,” said David Farr, chairman and chief executive officer of Emerson, while speaking at the opening ceremony. “This facility and solutions center will help us engage in even closer collaboration with our global customers as they work to solve the world’s most complex problems.”
Emerson’s first industrial solutions center in Korea was designed to help customers understand where and how they can most effectively deploy advanced technologies and experience new ways of working in a digitally transformed plant. With programs that provide specific, role-based insights, customers are able to explore the impacts of each employee’s day-to-day work and leverage real-time data to make decisions that lead to the financial and operational improvements required to reach top quartile performance.
“Korea is one of our top global markets, and this investment demonstrates Emerson’s commitment to Korea, a key piece of our growth in Asia,” said Jamie Froedge, president of Asia Pacific for Emerson Automation Solutions. “This new facility and solutions center will help customers improve their operational and capital project performance by delivering results even amidst the steadily increasing cost and time pressures.”
The Jukjeon facility consolidates all Emerson Korea Automation Solutions business units under one roof, offering enhanced utilization, increased collaboration and flexibility to take on multiple, large-scale projects and the ability to quickly respond to customer needs, no matter where they are in the world. In addition to the solutions center, the facility features two floors of staging capabilities, an instrument service center and calibration lab.
The solutions center houses a central control room with a plant-like environment. Through industry-leading technologies such as location awareness, augmented reality and virtual reality, Emerson experts can simulate the processes of a typical plant using Emerson’s leading Plantweb™ digital ecosystem and digital twin technology, allowing customers to optimize critical manufacturing processes. With these tools, customers can explore new ways to manage remote operations and collaborate with experts worldwide.
“Our new facility will serve as a destination for our clients to gain hands-on exposure to Emerson’s innovative technologies,” said ChenFai Chung, vice president & general manager of North Asia for Emerson Automation Solutions. “We are proud to play a role in the continued development of Yongin Digital Valley and look forward to working closely with our customers to bring digital transformation to life for the region.”
The Korea solutions center brings to life the capabilities of the Plantweb™ digital ecosystem. Combining the company’s best-in-class process control and safety systems with its deep expertise, Plantweb expands on existing automation infrastructure to make the benefits of Industrial IoT scalable and achievable, with a broad portfolio of pervasive sensing technologies, an extensive suite of predictive analytical software tools, secure and robust data infrastructure devices, and expert services. These capabilities will help customers decrease operational costs and reduce complexity by introducing automation early in the planning process.
