The Manufacturers Standardization Society (MSS) of the Valve and Fittings Industry announces that SP-113-2021, Connecting Joints between Tapping Machines and Tapping Valves, has been revised and published by MSS.
Standard Practice (SP)-113 has been an industry norm for over 27 years; covering the dimensions which define the interface between drilling/tapping machine adapters and tapping valves (known as a “joint”); including clearances for the pilot drill and cutter. This Standard Practice also defines methods to ensure proper alignment of the machine adapter onto the tapping valve, without affecting the strength of the joint. Only flanged, mechanical joint, push-on, asbestos-cement, and radial compression connections are included within the scope of this Standard Practice. SP-113 continues to be maintained under the consensus of MSS Technical Committee 112, Water Works Valves & Fittings.
The revised Standard Practice, MSS SP-113-2021, is now available from authorized U.S. and global distributors. It has been published in an electronic version (PDF) and in book format.
